Here are some ways you can save for a home while renting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Figure out your need<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The first step to saving is knowing how much you need. While a 20% down payment is recommended, it\u2019s not required. Depending on the type of loan you have, you may be able to have a down payment as low as 3%*. Research how much homes are selling for in your desired area, how much you can afford, and any programs you may be qualified for, especially if you\u2019re a first-time homebuyer. Understanding the costs of buying a home will allow you to set an accurate savings goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Review your current finances<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Your next step is to review your current financial situation and understand where your money is going. Make note of your current savings, write down any debt, and the amount owed, including the interest rates, and your monthly expenses for the past six months.
